Blaubuild heat recovery air handling unit for new projects

BlauBUILD | For New Projects

New construction projects often face challenges, particularly with site access and installing air handling units (AHU's). As HVAC technology advances, AHU's become larger and more complex, making it difficult to find the right fit for ventilation needs.

BlauBUILD offers a turnkey solution by bringing our factory to your site. We assemble our Eurovent Certified, modular air handling units with heat recovery on-premisis, ensuring a perfect fit. Choose from simple heat recovery units to fully integrated HVAC built-on-site air handling units (AHU's) suitable for plant rooms, suspended ceilings, or roof-mounted installations.

BlauBUILD | The Retrofit Solution

Improving a high-performing building's efficiency to cut energy costs is crucial. Common solutions include better insulation, solar panels, and heat recovery ventilation HVAC systems. However, replacing older ventilation units with newer air handling units with heat recovery can be tricky due to their size, they are often three times larger than older units, making installation in tight spaces almost impossible.

BlauBUILD Air Handling Units solves this problem by bringing our production line to your door and assembling on-site. Adhering to ISO-9001 standards, a Blauberg Engineer delivered the air handling unit in sections that fit through tight spaces, then assembles and tests it to Eurovent and ISO 9001 standards. Finally, you receive a five-year warranty certificate.

Key features of a Blaubuild air handling unit with heat recovery

Key Features of BlauBUILD Air Handling Units

BlauBUILD units not only offer 'assemble on-site' convenience but also boast an A+ energy rating and comply with ERP2018 standards. Each unit is equipped with German EC fans capable of efficiently delivering between 80 to 6000 cubic meters of air per hour (m3/h) while maintaining low specific fan power and noise.

For heat recovery, you can choose between a space-efficient Eurovent-certified rotary thermal wheel or a more effective counterflow heat recovery core, depending on the available space. Indoor air quality is enhanced with F7 filters installed as standard.

Additionally, BlauBUILD air handling units include user-friendly plug-and-play controls for easy operation.

BlauBUILD | Construction

BlauBUILD utilises a frameless construction for its air handling units, enabling them to be assembled from compact components. This design facilitates easy on-site assembly while ensuring the structure remains robust and sturdy once constructed.

Additionally, BlauBUILD air handling units include double-skin infill panels insulated with 40 mm of mineral wool. This design choice not only enhances thermal efficiency but also significantly lowers noise and sound levels, creating a more peaceful environment.

Controlling BlauBUILD Air Handling Units

BlauBUILD Air Handling Units are customised to meet the unique requirements of each project. As part of our service, an engineer sets up each unit on-site, programming fans to the necessary speeds and configuring the heating and cooling controls, if installed.

Sensors are calibrated, timer programs are input using the LCD display, and any Building Management System (BMS) access is also verified and configured. This ensures that every unit operates optimally for its specific application, tailored for a UK audience.

No Heat | Electric Heater | Water Heater

Choosing integrated heating in BlauBUILD air handling units offers significant benefits, including streamlined installation, enhanced efficiency, space savings, and improved control over temperature and airflow.

However, opting for an air handling unit without heating can also be advantageous, as it simplifies the system, reduces initial costs, and lowers maintenance requirements.

When selecting a heating option for your BlauBUILD AHU, consider:

No Heating: No additional energy costs, reduced complexity and maintenance.

Electric Heating: Rapid temperature adjustment and easier installation compared to water-based systems.

Water Heating (LPHW): Economical long-term with consistent and efficient heating. While initial installation may be more complex, the long-term energy savings and efficiency make it a cost-effective choice for many applications.

Filtration | Indoor Air Quality

BlauBUILD Air Handling Units come equipped with F7 filters as standard. These high-grade synthetic air filters capture particulates such as PM2.5, pollen, mold spores, and bacteria, ensuring a healthy indoor environment in line with UK air quality standards.

The superior filtration system enhances indoor air quality, providing a safer and more comfortable environment for occupants.

H13 HEPA Filters: Our units can also be fitted with H13 HEPA filters, which capture up to 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. This includes fine dust, smoke, and pet dander, significantly improving air quality for those with allergies or respiratory conditions.

Activated Carbon Filters: For removing gases, odours, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), activated carbon filters are highly effective. They trap pollutants on the surface of the activated carbon, eliminating cooking odours, smoke, and chemical fumes, ensuring a fresh and clean indoor atmosphere.

By integrating these advanced filtration options, BlauBUILD Air Handling Units provide comprehensive air purification solutions, promoting health and comfort for all buildings and their occupants.

EC Fans | SFP | Noise Reduction

Advantages of EC Fans: BlauBUILD Air Handling Units use Eurovent Certified, German EC fans for optimal energy efficiency, adjusting speed to match airflow needs and reducing costs.

Our EC fans are reliable, require less maintenance, and matched with a range of forward and backward curved impellers. This ensures maximum airflows are achieved without compromising noise reduction and keeping sound levels to a minimum.

Low Specific Fan Power (SFP): With low SFP, BlauBUILD heat recovery air handling units consume less energy to move air, lowering operational costs and environmental impact while meeting energy regulations for sustainable, high-performance operation.

Low Noise Operation: Engineered for quiet operation, BlauBUILD air handling units benefit from low noise EC fans, 40mm insulation and enhanced design.

Heat Recovery | Thermal Wheel

All UK projects are now required to have Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) to comply with Building Regulations. BlauBUILD air handling units come equipped with a heat recovery ventilation section, ensuring energy savings while keeping your indoor air clean and fresh. Additionally, BlauBUILD Air Handling Units offer a thermal wheel option, also known as a rotary heat exchanger, for most of the range.

A thermal wheel heat recovery unit is the preferred choice over a traditional counterflow core because it recovers more heat from outgoing air, boosting energy efficiency. By rotating between supply and exhaust air streams, it effectively captures and transfers heat and moisture, ensuring better humidity control and a consistent indoor climate.

Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller plant rooms or areas with limited space. This superior heat recovery reduces heating and cooling costs while minimising energy waste, making the thermal wheel the best choice for high-efficiency and environmental control needs.

Heat Recovery | Counterflow Core

All UK projects now require Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR). BlauBUILD air handling units are designed to save energy while maintaining clean and fresh indoor air. Every unit in our range features a heat recovery section and includes the option for a counterflow heat recovery core.

Counterflow heat recovery cores are an excellent choice because they have no moving parts, making them more reliable and easier to maintain. Their simple design means fewer mechanical issues and a longer lifespan for your ventilation equipment. Counterflow energy cores effectively transfer heat between incoming and outgoing air, maintaining optimal indoor air quality and stable temperatures.

Their straightforward construction makes them ideal for places where low HVAC maintenance and long-term durability are crucial. By efficiently recovering energy, counterflow cores help reduce heating and cooling costs and minimise energy waste, offering a dependable and cost-effective solution for your environmental control needs.
